In the stories “The Day I got lost” and “A Dark brown dog” the tone for both were somewhat funny. In The day I got lost the humor had a lighter side to it. The main character Professor Shimel is very forgetful so he wears old clothes and forgets where his house is and calls a friend. In the text they use forgetful and that explains a lot in the story. The perspective in The day I got lost was first person from the professors perspective, the reason that it is that way is so you can have a better understanding of what the main character is thinking. The part that is harder to understand is what other people are thinking.
In a Dark Brown dog the humor was a little dark and sad because the dog got hurt. the dog was kicked around and even thrown out the window and then he got splattered. In A dark brown dog the perspective of the story is third person and you can see everyones thoughts. In the story you can see everyones thoughts including the dads thoughts so you know why he hates the dog so much. You can’t see the thoughts in grave detail though for each character A word used a lot in A dark brown do is pray and that is when the dog is praying because he is very desperate and wants somewhere to live so he prays to the child to not leave him behind. “He swung him two or three times hilariously about his head, and then flung him with great accuracy through the window” this quote from a dark brown dog shows that this story has dark humor. This is very gruesome but also sort of funny to think of it......for some reason. Both stories have some humor but are sad and actually funny.
